Rich History
Many centuries ago, there were no wonderful sights, clean and wide streets, high-rise buildings and comfortable hotels of Geneva. It was just a land inhabited by the Celts. For the first time it was mentioned by Julius Caesar in 58 BC. At the beginning of the 4th century, the population changed their faith and converted to Christianity. In the 11th century, city became an important part of the Roman Empire, and in the 18th century century, Napoleon during his conquests attached it to France. According to the results of the Vienna Congress in 1815, Geneva was attached to the Swiss Confederation.
In the early 19th century, it was known outside the country. A few years late, first foreigners filled first accommodations of the city.
